With deep gratitude and a steadfast commitment to our mission, I am announcing that Vespertine Boutique will be closing our brick-and-mortar location at 914 Water Street in mid-October. We will have a special farewell during Main Street’s Girls Night Out Event on October 3rd, and we invite you to join us for this memorable evening.

This decision was not made lightly. The challenges of sustaining a physical store in today’s economic climate have become increasingly difficult to navigate. Rising costs of insurance, taxes, utilities, and operational services have placed a significant burden on the business. Additionally, the difficulty of finding and retaining qualified employees in Port Townsend has added to the challenges. However, I must emphasize that Vespertine’s mission is far from over.

We are evolving to better meet the needs of our community by transitioning to a more sustainable model focused on our growing e-commerce platform. Vespertine will continue to serve you online at vespertineboutique.com, where you’ll find a much larger assortment of products than what we were able to carry in-store. By shopping with us online, you are still investing in sexual education and outreach within our region, which we aim to make even more creative and effective.

Pop-Up Plans and Community Engagement While our physical store is closing, Vespertine will continue to show up where you are. We are excited to announce our plans to host pop-up experiences at local events and partner with community providers and organizations. These pop-ups will allow us to connect with you directly, offering the same quality products and resources you’ve come to love, in a more flexible and accessible way.

Store Closing Details We will maintain our current business hours through Labor Day, September 2nd. Starting September 3rd, Vespertine will be open Friday through Sunday only, as we prepare for a clearance sale of all remaining merchandise and some retail fixtures. A Note on Discrimination I want to address an important issue we’ve faced—discrimination specifically related to online advertising and social media. These restrictions have made it difficult to reach a wider audience. However, I must emphasize that the public in Port Townsend has been nothing but supportive.
